2024 Elections for Basingstoke District Council

Bramley Sherfield and Silchester ward

Adam Coulthard
Adam Coulthard

Across Bramley, Sherfield, Silchester and the other villages of our ward, council and government neglect is clear to see. From potholed roads to oversubscribed GPs and litter-strewn lay-bys, our area needs change and the Labour Party will fight for this.

I live in the ward with my wife and son, and work nearby as an engineer. I previously served as a school governor and have been a St John Ambulance volunteer.

I want to hear from you with your views and issues!

My pledges to you

If elected as councillor, these will be my priorities:

Caring for our environment

Climate change threatens us all; whilst change is needed at a national and global level, we must also do what we can locally. From better public transport, to protecting our green spaces, I will put our environment first.

Considerate development

More houses are needed across our region, however too often they are put in with consideration only for profit and not the effect on infrastructure, or the local area. I will work to ensure that the environment is protected and infrastructure matches development. Wherever possible, local residents should have input via local plans.

Safer streets

People should feel secure at home and outside, but too often this is not the case. I will work with residents and the police to help make our streets safer.

In this election, you can also vote for a Labour Police and Crime Commissioner, Becky Williams.

Working hard for you

I believe that good, active local councillors can achieve change, and improve people’s lives. If elected, I will work hard for you, be available to residents, and active year-round.

Improve recycling rates

Recycling rates in our Borough are some of the worst in the country. I will work to improve this, reducing waste that goes to landfill or incinerator.
