Alex Christie Labour Candidate for Hartley Wintney

Hart is a beautiful district and Hartley Wintney one of its most beautiful parts. I consider myself fortunate to live here.
As a keen outdoor person in my hobbies and in my work I’ve noticed our changing climate – the increasing extremes in weather, from hotter, drier, summers to much wetter winters. As your local council representative I’ll work hard to ensure that decisions made help to reduce our communities’ impacts on our environment and increase our resilience in this ever-changing world.
Improving our transportation system is essential, not just for our environment but also for our economy, giving the young and all access to employment and opportunities beyond Hartley Wintney. This can be done through improved public transport and infrastructure, such as for cycling.
We have a housing crisis here as in so many communities. I believe that everyone deserves access to safe, affordable, and stable housing. As our community develops we need to create housing for all, not just a few.
My pledges to you
Putting the environment first
From better public transport, to protecting our green spaces, I will put our environment first.
Considerate development
We need housing for all, especially the younger generation, but the council must ensure the environment is protected and infrastructure matches development.
GP and Dentist appointments
It is far too difficult to get an appointment. I will use every opportunity to meet with local surgeries and push for change.
Fight Hartley Wintney tip closure
Flytipping blights our communities. We should be making it easier, not harder, to legally dispose of waste

It’s time for change
Thousands of new homes in the district have put enormous pressure on roads, GP and hospital services and damaged the natural environment. New homes built WITHOUT regard for the environment: no solar panels, heat pumps or gardens large enough to attract wild birds.
Yet our town centres have not benefitted from the increased population: so many shops have closed. Public transport is inadequate or non-existent.
Hart councillors have conducted talking shops for years, but failed to take meaningful action. You deserve much better, and Labour is ready to serve Hart as it serves so well in Manchester, London, and so many places.
What will Labour do for you?
We care about the needs of all the community and we represent and will fight for the whole community: all ages, all creeds, all genders, all incomes.
We care about the environment and the world our children will inherit. It’s worth fighting for!
We work actively for you on local and on nationally important issues: the NHS, the economy, Social Care, Education, Equality, International Relations.
